PROJECT F.A.P.E

Funda Wazi Arts and Poem Writing Event (Project F.A.P.E) is an annual Art and Poem writing competition involving primary children in private and public primary schools in Lagos State, Nigeria.
The aim of the competition is to enable every child have the right to express their views, feelings in all matters affecting them and to have their views considered and taken seriously.

According to Article 13 (Freedom of expression) of the UNICEF Convention on the Rights of the Child: Children have the right to get and share information, as long as the information is not damaging to them or others. In exercising the right to freedom of expression, children have the responsibility to also respect the rights, freedoms and reputations of others. The freedom of expression includes the right to share information in any way they choose, including by talking, drawing or writing.

The Program focuses on topics that address the core value of the Foundation which include prevention of child abuse, neglect and other forms of violence. The Objectives of

Project F.A.P.E are:

To highlight the impact of various abuses and violence on children and ensure that they are equipped with information and tools to protect and prevent themselves.
To use creative means to capture a child’s ability to go beyond learning a skill but to express a personal voice on the issue of child abuse, violence and negligence.
To enable students analyze from their own perspective the role of children on how to speak out and/or stand up against any form of child abuse or negligence.
The Program is held annually on the 27TH of May in commemoration of the World Children’s day celebration. Winning schools and students for each category are recognized and awarded gift accordingly
